Aquilifer

15mm Seven Years War

by Scott Holder

Aquilifer is a new company based in Rome Italy that has released a SYW 15mm line of Prussians and Austrians. Two infantry figures, a Prussian Fusilier marching and a Prussian Officer with a spyglass plus one horse were received for review. The two infantry figures measure 17H. I put them next to some previously reviewed 15mm AMR figures I have lying around and they are huge. In fact, if they were 2mm taller, they’d be large 20mm figures. However, all that size means more detail and animation. The line itself promises to be very extensive with nine separate figures for Musketeers and Fusiliers and they’ve even done casualty figures.

The horse is another matter. It’s grossly out of proportion to itself with the head and neck being much larger than the body. The figure is well animated but the horse itself is as large as a 20mm horse I compared it too. Combined with the downright goofy proportions, you might want to hold off on cavalry and limbers with this line until you can see some other examples. You can purchase an Infantry Brigade or Division complete with artillery and Aquilifer will customize for you in terms of numbers of musketeer/fusilier battalions you want. Infantry figures cost .40 euros (roughly 40 cents at the current exchange rate), mounted .85 euros, artillery 1.20 euros and personality figures cost slightly more. A brigade pack of 48 infantry, 2 mounted officers, 3 cannons and 12 artillerymen costs 28.00 euros. A division pack has roughly twice the figures in the same proportions to the brigade pack and costs 56.00 euros. Orders can be placed with Aquilifer Viale Guglielmo Marconi, 444-00146 Rome (Italy). You’re probably better off going to their web site at www.aquilifer.com. Shipping costs are fairly high, 40% of the order cost unless you purchase 250.00 euros-worth, then it drops to 20%.
