25mm Prussian Seven Years War

Review By Scott Holder

Two types of figures were received, YPSI2C-Prussian Musketeer Advancing Shoulder Arms, and YPSI3, Prussian Fusilier Command. The latter actual consists of 10 different figures, 2 standard bearers, 3 spontoon figures, 2 officers, 1 fifer, and 2 drummers. Size is 25-27L/M. I wish I could be more specific in terms of the light to medium build of the figures. I stood them next to other M figures and while in some ways they fit in, they look a bit more slim, something akin to the old Hinchcliffe line from the 70s, hence my confusion about sizing them.

Moreover, almost every figure “suffers” from the feet not actually sitting on the base; there is a small 1-2mm extension. I say suffer because I bet these figures might work better when the their bases are flocked, ie., no flock covering the feet. There is plenty of animation and lots of detail, probably the strength of this line. The mitre caps on the Fusiliers are very well done although overall, I think I like the Musketeer figure better. It would actually work well for a variety of Hessians in the AWR period.

My only complaint with any figure was the size of the head, it’s too small, and as such, the effort at animated facial features is somewhat lost. Again, the Musketeer is better in this regard. If you are looking for a “unit look” that is more animated than most, you will enjoy this line since the Musketeers come in five separate “shoulder arms” castings. A “regular pack” of 10 infantry costs $12.50. A different “regimental pack” of 50 infantry costs $50.00.
