Sash & Saber

28mm ACW Line

Review By Paul Koch

At Historicon last July, I chanced upon SASH & SABER CASTINGS. Very nearly my entire new, 28mm ACW armies were based on a single pose. That is a right shoulder shift while advancing/double-timing etc. SASH & SABER made offerings that fit the bill for a slightly different but compatible look. Since that time I received a new bunch of SASH & SABER for review.

These figures were “Skirmishing”. I liked them at once. So much so that I dropped my other 5 or 6 painting projects and did these guys up right away. They are a full 28mm tall thus fitting fine with Old Glory and other “big 25” lines. They also have some beef to them being considered “heavy” on the Bartlett scale. The have that nice amount of exaggerated detail and cuttings that work so well with dry brush techniques of painting.

They also have another quality. This is difficult to describe but lets call “mood”. The figures look like they are serious about their business. No nondescript, going through the motions here. The little guys are soldiers going about a deadly and dangerous trade.

This really a can’t miss range. They are not cheap at about $12.50 per pack of ten infantry, but excellent all the same. For those whose odious view is that the best is good enough they are a must have. They can reached at: 119 Dublin Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609 Or call (919) 870-5513. These are really fine figures, give them a look.
