Review By John Boehm
These figures were previously known as Harlequin miniatures, then Icon and now apparently Blacktree Design. They are available from the Miniature Service Center, 1386 Portofino Drive, Yuba City, CA 95993, 560-673-5169. The figures received are listed as armored Spartan Hoplites IA1011. These figures come eight to a pack and are 28.5 M on the Barrett scale. There are several variants in the pack, although all figures are in essentially similar poses, standing with legs shoulder width apart, and holding a spear or sword in an upright position. The figures are very detailed and cleanly cast, and the Spartan warriors all have substantial beards and shoulder length hair. All are wearing the Pylos helmet. Four of the figures are wearing a bell cuirass, three a composite Cuirass with Pteruges, and one a muscled Cuirass also with Pteruges. Half the figures are with greaves and half are without. Only two of the eight figures were identical. The pack included two swords and eight shields. Five are Hoplon shields, and three are smaller oval shields. Also included were lengths of wire for the spears. The price per pack is not listed. These are nicely detailed figures. The only comment I have is that the hands will have to be drilled out to insert the spears or swords. More Reviews
