20mm American Revolution

Review By Scott Holder

Additional figures received were AR-30, Hessian Grenadiers Charging, AR-74, Dismounted British Light Dragoons, and an undesignated standard bearer. Figures are 20M and comments from a previous review (Courier #83) apply here. The Hessians are very nice figures, animated with plenty of detail. The dismounted Dragoons come with a separate right arm making for some variety. The Dragoons are a bit less distinct than the Hessians although the helmets are nice. The standard bearer doesn’t have a turn-backed jacket, making it look as much like a SYW figure as AWR.

Nonetheless, it is a very nice figure, great face for 20mm, with good clothing details. As with the other figures reviewed, some of the bases have clumps of lead which will need work before they stand on their own two feet. I’m thinking that 20mm figures allow those people who want a 25mm game but feel there just aren’t enough figures on the table will want to look at 20mm as a viable alternative. Use 25mm scales but simply put more figures on a base. A pack of 20-23 figures cost $27.50 and is available from Brookhurst Hobbies, 12188 Brookhurst St, Garden Grove CA 92840, (714) 636-3585, www.brookhursthobbies.com, email: brookhobby@aol.com.
