This was a pre-Civil War conflict between Slave and Free Soil factions in Kansas and Missouri. In 1855 1400-1700 members of the pro-slave faction, often referred to as Border Ruffians, attacked the Free-Soil town of Lawrence Kansas. The attack was called off when the Ruffians saw how well defended the town was. They again advanced on the town in 1856. WHAT IF, they were better motivated and pressed the attack. Both sides should be evenly matched. The goal would be the control or destruction of the town. The players could simulate the entire battle or focus on a single sector for a skirmish scenario.
