Due in part to post-war economic problems, many farmers were protesting against Massachusetts governmental policies. When no relief or change in policies seemed likely, many frontier farmers rallied behind Shay and several other men. In January, the rebels (1100) marched on the Springfield arsenal where they engaged and were routed by the Massachusetts militia (2000?). Later on April 30, a group of about 100 rebels were confronted at Galusha Inn but dispersed when confronted. Both groups contained veterans of the War of Independence which should cause the players to upgrade troops from a militia level. The Springfield action is a good situation for a tactical scenario.
