After this time virually every conflict during the war involved either Native or Loyalist troops.
Jan 6-9: Fort Morris (Sunbury), Georgia. British force (2000) (inc East Fla Vol-22, Florida
Rangers- 144; 3rd/Skinners NJ Vol- 102; SC Royalist Rgt-26 1) under Prevost attack the fort
garrisoned by 200 regular troops.
Feb 3: Beaufort, Port Royal Island, South Carolina. A British force (200) including Loyalist
under Maj. Gardiner are replused as they try to take the island which is defended by Charleston
militia (300) + 20 regulars.
Feb 10 : Car's Fort, Georgia. Loyalist (under Col Boyd ?) skirmish Patriot militia.
Feb 14: Cherokee Ford, South Carolina. Loyalist (SC militia400 ; NC Loyalist Rgt-300) under
Col Boyd skirmish Patriot troops
Feb 14: Kettle Creek, Georgia. A continuation of the skirmish at Cherokee Ford. A large
Loyalist force under Col Boyd is defeated and scattered by a patriot force under Col A. Pickens.
Feb 26: Horseneck, Connecticut. Gov Tryon commanding 600 Loyalist and regulars rout a
patriot force under Gen Israel Putnam.
Mar 3: Briar Creek, Georgia. A BR force (inc Florida Rangers-50; Boyd's SC Loyal
Militia-200; SC Loyal Arty-2 guns) defend against a patriot force trying to capture Augusta.
Apr: Patriot expedition to destroy the Chickamauga branch of the Cherokees who continued to
raid patriot settlements. The expedition included a few ambushes and skirmishes.
Apr 20: Raid on Onondaga capitol. Patriots under Van Schaick burn the town.
May 11-12: Charleston, SC. British inc Florida Rangers(200), Carolina Loyalist (300);
McGirth's Loyalist (100).
May 11- 13 : Coosawhatchie, South Carolina. Prevost's command skirmishes with Gen Moultrie.
Jun 20: Stono Ferry, South Carolina. Lt Col Maitland's rearguard (NC Loyalist Rgt- 150) defeats a Patriot probe.
Jul 2: Bedford/ Poundridge, NY. Tarleton with Mtd dragoons (British Legion (120)+ Queen's
Rangers Hussars/Drgns(120) )skirmish with patriots (390) and bum several buildings in the area.
Jul 5-11 : New Haven Connecticut. Gen Tryon force (inc; King's American Rgt) defeats a Patriot force (150) and burned ships in the harbor.
Jul 11 : Norwalk, Conn. Gen Tryon's expedition defeats a Patriot force (50) and bums.
Jul 15: Stony point, NY. Patriots (1350) under Wayne assault and take the fort. The British
garrison ( inc Loyal American Rgt (68) + Vol of Ireland) (550 + 15 guns) is defeated.
Jul 22: Minisink, NY. A joint Mohawk/Loyalist force (Johnson's Greens) routs the Patriots.
Jul 31 : Sullivan Expedition begins. A large Patriot force (2500) attacks the Iroquois towns and ripe fields of grain.
Aug 5: Morrisania (Bronx), New York. A Patriot cavalry force + local militia attack a Loyalist force of Delancey's Brigade.
Aug 11- Sept 14: Allegheny River Towns, Pennsylvama. Patriots (600) under Col Brodhead
attacks ten Indian towns in the Allegheny Valley.
Aug 19: Paulus Hook, New Jersey. Patriots under Maj Harry Lee capture a British blockhouse
and capture 150 of the garrison (inc New Jersey Vol (100).
Aug 29: Chemung River (Newton) New York. The major battle of the Sullivan expedition. After
this most resistance was in the form of ambushes and skirmishes. Sullivan's force (now 4000+)
defeated the consolidated force of 1200 Iroquois + Butler's Rangers + Johnson's Greens.
Sept 5: Lloyd's Neck, Long Island, New York. A Loyalist garrison (500) is surprised and
captured by a smaller Patriot force (150) under Maj B. Tallmadge.
Sept 17: Baton Rouge (LA), West Florida. Spanish troops capture Baton Rouge and other British posts on the Mississippi River. The garrisons included men of the Loyal Refugee companies.
Sept 23 : Siege of Savannah, Georgia begins. The garrison includes several Loyalist units (1st Bn (100) + 2nd Bn (100) Delancey"s NY Regiment; Ga Lgt Dragoons-80; NY VOL - 160;
3rd/Skinner's NJ Vol- 150; NC Loyalist Rgt-90; SC Royalist Rgt- 100; SC Dragoons- 100) + some
local militia (Wright's GA Loyalist-200; Savannah's militia-50; Savannah's Freed Nergoes-150)
Oct 4: Licking River, Ky. S. Girty and Ohio Valley Indians ambush and destroy a militia force.
Oct 9: Assault on Savannah, GA. A French-American assault on Savannah's brestworks are
repelled. The Allies lost over 800 men and later lifted the siege.
Oct 26 ; Brunswick, New Jersey. Loyalist Rangers and Dragoons under Lt Col John Simcoe
skirmish with Patriot units.
Nov 7: Jefferd's Neck, NY. Armand's Legion surprises a Loyalist force under Maj M Bearmore
