This is the period of Solomon (973-933 BC) and a short period of rare peace. With the death of Solomon, the kingdom split into two parts, Israel and Judah, and for the next two hundred years, these two areas fought for supremacy over the other. By 750, the area had fallen to the Assyrians, but constant revolts were the norm, one of the more renowned being put down by the Assyrian king, Sargon II in 724-22. Finding enemies was never a problem for the Hebrews. They warred against the Philistines, Aramaeans, Arabs and others, developing a well-disciplined (trained) army of professionals augmented by mercenaries, skirmish infantry archers and loose order spearmen. Cavalry and chariots provide the mobility, while the tough Gibborim and mercenary heavy infantry provide the shock attack. Try to sweep a flank or even both with loose order troops deploying from delaying terrain and heavy infantry plowing into whatever is in front of them. An interesting and fun army for any one, but experienced gamers will do very well. Enemies: Philistine, Midianite Arab, Aramaean, Babylonian, Egyptian and New Assyrian Empire.
