Descendants of the sea peoples, armies were better trained, diversified and armoured. They had champions, such as Goliath, and were continually at war with their neighbours, the Hebrews. The height of the power of the Philistines was during the period from 1080-1025, when they ruled over Israel and Palestine. Their power was short-lived, however, as the Hebrews rose up and defeated them. Medium chariots, screened by skirmishers and cavalry should be able to put pressure on an enemy centre or flank, while the close order foot, supported by loose order, can hold their own and advance on the other flank.
