By M. Barthorp, Colour Plates by P. Turner. By far the best title so far of the series (in the opinion of this reviewer). Michael Barthorp's third volume on British campaign dress covers the "prime" Colonial Campaigns, from Persia through the First Boer War. Included are, obviously, the Maori Wars, Ashanti and the 3rd Afghan War, plus several "lessee' campaigns. The black and white photos are adequate, though there are the usual num ber of photos appearing yet once again. Pierre Turners color plates are good, though some are a bit "fuzzy". This may, however, be more the fault of the printing process than the artist. Volume 3 of "The British Army on Campaign" is a must for any Colonial wargamer's reference library. Even though Osprey's prices increased last year to $8.95, the value is still obviously there. I eagerly await the concluding volume, Part 4, which will cover the years 1882-1902 and such topics as Egypt, the Sudan, the Northwest Frontier, the 2nd Boer War, and (I hope) the Boxer Rebellion.
