A wealth of valuable and interesting information on Colonial warfare, all under one cover! Howard Whitehouse has accomplished a serious bit of research (which even this reviewer would probably never have attempted) in Field Books' "Battle in Africa". This book contains an enormous amount of data and information on every aspect of warfare in late 19th Century Africa. From the exciting to the mundane, from theory to fact, its all within the pages of this valuable research effort. Tactics and strategy (both Imperial and native), supply, marching order, weapons, leadership and much, much more are all touched upon. Extremely valuable information for any campaign referee and interesting even for only the marginal Colonial gamer, it's all here in black and white both Howard's text and the wonderful supporting illustrations drawn by Peter Dennis. If you buy only one book on Colonial warfare this year, I recommend "Battle in Africa". Cost is $12.95. More Reviews
