At last the modular terrain that the hobby has been waiting for! Geo-Hex is made up of rugged, hexagonally shaped expanded foam sections. The basic pieces are flat hexagons, grass textured on both sides, often with a road section indicated on one side. The items which make this terrain the cadillac of the genre, however, is the rough terrain sections. With very few types of pieces, just about any kind of rough or gentle sloping hill (or gully, or river, or ocean edge, or cliff, or escarpment, or wadi, or gulch, etc., etc.) can be represented... No, "represented" is not right; they can be "modelled" more realistically than any other system that I have seen save perhaps model RR type of terrain modules. The advantage over so-called terrain modules is the amazing flexibility and portability that heretofore could only be achieved with sand tables (enough terrain for a 6x8 ft. table packs in 3 boxes weighing less than 35 pounds!). One problem is the cost. Enough terrain for a 6x8 ft. table would cost about $240... with a later addition of $115 (more rough terrain pieces)! But no club should be without it... it is definitely a club purchase, and any small group of miniature gamers who wants their terrain to match their figures will find a way to buy it. I can't recommend GEO-HEX highly enough... I know that my games will be a lot less enjoyable if I can't use my club's set. Send to Geo-Hex, 528 North East Hancock St., Portland, OR 97212.
