Essex, previously noted for their 25mm lines, has now begun issuing 15mm figures for the ancient and medieval periods. Two of the new ranges are 15mm Vikings and contemporary Saxons. These figures are intermediate in size between Mike's Models "true" 15mm and Minifigs so called 18mm figures, and could probably be mixed with figures at either end of the range of sizes. Each pack of figures contains an assortment of poses, a nice touch for those building an irregular army. The average appears to be three different poses. Some of the packages suffer from a mix of static and dynamic posesthat would be difficultto use convincingly in the same unit. The figures are nicely proportioned and molded with a bit of flash. The Viking range includes 10 different packs (VAl-10), and the Saxon range includes 7 (SXAl-7). These figures are available from Wargames, Inc., Box 278, Route 40 East, Triadelphia, WV 26059. Prices are $1.99 for packs of 8 infantry, 4 cavalry or 3 mounted command. More Reviews
