We are all well aware of Joshua Chamberlain's exploits on Little Round Top through the reading of Killer Angels and the Movie Gettysburg. Some may know that it was he that brought his troops to salute the passing Confederates at Appomatox This detailled biography by Edward Longacre details his military career and his personal life. I new that Chamberlin had been wounded but never understood how gravely (especially for the medicine of that time) until I read this book. Reads like a novel but is a true history of one of the great civil war heroes. 384 pages, 16 illustrations, 6 maps, ISBN 1-58097-021-4, $29.95 from Combined Books, PO Box 307, Conshohocken PA 19428.
