25mm Cut Throat Pirates

Reviewed by Tom Desmond

Recently received for review are the latest 25mm pirate figures produced by Will Hannah. Six different figure packs and a cannon pack contain no two alike models. As is usually the case with Foundry miniatures, the figures , which measure 27M on the Barrett Scale are crisply modeled, well detailed and contain virtually no flash. The packs include :

FREEBOOTERS (CUT 25) - 6 varied pirates including a female with flagon of ale, a one legged pirate on a crutch and several other well dressed fellows.

FLOATING FILTH (CUT 26) - Another assortment of male and female pirates armed with a variety of riles and pistols

SCURVY SWABS (CUT 27) - Featuring an executioner with mask and axe, victim standing with hands tied and other assorted armed felons to include a lady with pistol behind her back. Another pack called BOARDING AXES (CUT17) - Consists entirely of figures armed with a wide variety of you guessed it, boarding axes.

MAROONS 1 (CUT 20) - A pack of black freemen armed with assorted muskets. The final packs CUT 23 and CUTART1 are a gun crew and cannon. The guncrew pack also contains a swivel gun.

While the question may arise as to how many pirates can one use, many of these figures have great "crossover" value. With the apparent success of the Darkest Africa range, one can see a use for these lines in pirate raids, slave raids and other interesting scenarios involving Africa, the Indies etc.Available from the Foundry, Ltd. 1549 Marview Drive, Weslake OH 44145, (440) 871-4587
