I was quite surprised to discover at Cold Wars 94 that GHQ was releasing a new line of 1/200th scale WW II aircraft. Not common in the US, this scale seems to be popular in the UK for air gaming and collecting. Looking at the first six releases - a MiG-3, an IL-2M3, an Me-l63, an Me262, a Fw190D,and a Hawker Tempest, I can understand their popularity. These planes have just enough detail to ensure they'll look good when painted and are up to GHQs normal high production standards (That is, they're clean!) I havens dragged out any plans against which to measure them; I normally only do that when something looks fishy to me to begin with. These models simply look right. They're big enough to spend some time on a good paint job, but don't require the extensive cleanup and assembly of the 1/144 scale plastic kits that are the logical alternative. If the initial six issues do well, expect to see more in this line from GHQ. GHQ priced the first six releases at $4.00 at Cold Wars 94 as part of a Pre-Release Special, so I'm not sure what they'll cost when they make it to your local gameshop, or if unavailable there, directly from GHQ at 28100 Woodside Road, Shorewood, MN 55331.- BILL RUTHERFORD * The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
