Pharaoh's Arms (PO Box 32, Munster Hamlet, Ontario, Canada KOA 3P) provided
samples of the new Chariot Miniatures 10 mm Victorian Era colonial range.
It's difficult to measure these on the Barrett scale, I have seen no other
figures in this scale so have no real basis for comparison.. They measure
a nice 10mm from top of head to bottom of foot and are mounted on a thin
but substantial base and are well proportioned. The samples consist of
two British mounted (one is a two-piece casting and the other a single
item), a British infantry advancing, and three Zulu (of 4 available). The
figures are little gems of detail; the Brit has backpack and pouch clearly
defined, even a little scabbard sticking down under the pouch. The Zulu
are all headring regiment in campaign dress (no monkey tails and other
frills hanging on them); all are advancing, one with assagi, one with rifle
and one with club upraised. To further emphasize the detail, the cross
hatching is clearly visible on the shields. With these one could do Isandwanda
on a ping pony table. Prices are $2.70 US for 12 infantry, 6 cavalry, and
3 guns. Send for a complete catalog. -BOB BEATTIE
* The Courier uses the Tobey Barrett Measurement [BM] System to simplify comparison of figure sizes. The number is the height in millimeters from the bottom of the figure's foot (top of base) to its eyes. The letter refers to the "heft" of the figure: L=light, M=medium, and H=heavy. Thus, Hs will fit in with other Hs and some Ms, but not Ls.
