Raventhorpe

20mm WWII

reviewed by Bill Rutherford

Raventhorpe Miniatures, 2 Bygot Lane, Cherry Burton, Beverly, North Humberside, England HU1 7 9RN. Raventhorpe makes a wide range of 20mm WWII German, US, UK, and Italian figures -- infantry, heavy weapons, and the occasional vehicle. Most figures are one-piece, though a number have separate heads (one can order bags of heads with various headgear, as well as infantry weapons ... ) Most figures are packaged two per pack at between 25p and 35p. Weapons and vehicles (how 'bout a Fiat Dovunque truck?) cost correspondingly more. The troops are nice! They're properly proportioned, which is something of a rarity in metal in this scale, and are well detailed.

The Italian para officer wears the proper helmet with band, jump smock, and knee pads, and carries an obscure Italian SMG. A US sailor from Wake Island is dressed, well, like a sailor, and fires a tommy gun. The Afrika Korps machinegunner is advancing with an MG34, wears a nice overcoat, and comes with about four heads. The Italian colonel camel trooper isn't riding a camel and looks very tired. You get the idea -- lots of variety and good quality to boot! These people will custom make special wants for you, too. Highly recommended for the 20mm gamer or the 1/76th modeler!
