Well, I never throught I'd see a bunch of Confederates hanging from balloons with propellers strapped to their backs, but I did. I mean, these guys required a doubletake before I figired out what they were. The GMs must have watched the Da Vinci games one too many times...or maybe it's a book. I don't know, but they were cool. Well, these aren't the Virginian Air Cavalry, but the Steam-punk wars from the Victorian era of science fiction are alive and well. Phil Viverito stopped by the booth and the mystery of the VA Air Cav was finally revealed. If you recall, he published a set of rules called Gaslight, a sort of Victorian Era "Steam-punk" set of rules with all those marvelous ether-flyers, steam-tanks, and so on. Well, he just published a pair of rule sets, one called Fire Team Vietnam (by "Buck" Surdu) and the other called Journals of Victoria Hawkes by Christopher Palmer, an extension of Gaslight to the American Civil War 1861-63. The 81-page booklet contains a cornucopia of information and fiction for the Gaslight universe. First and foremost, it's a scenario book for Gaslight (Glorious Adventures in Science Loosely...) based on Palmer's vivid imagination set, er, loosely in the ACW, albeit an ACW with Victorian-era "technology." A full review is coming, but flicking through Journals of Victoria Hawkes I found terrain tips, special rules, model construction/modification tips, and so on.
