The best part of attending a convention is meeting all those friends and acqaintenances that you see, well, at conventions. From the time of dealer set up to the time of take down, you can greet all the grognards who inhabit the aisles of the dealer area and stalk the ballrooms of the gaming areas. And of course, there are always new folks to meet, especially if it's a face you've seen at the shows, but never had a chance to sit down and say hello. According to the pre-dealer meeting just before the show opened, over 1000 people pre-registered for the show. And, although I did not personally see it, I understand HMGS ran an advertisement in the local newspaper inviting the general public in as "guests" (at no charge). Speaking as MagWeb.com, I certainly appreciate any effort to increase the number of people coming through the dealer area.
