Like earlier figures reviewed in this series, these figures are roughly 20H on the Barrett scale. Well fed fellows. Types reviewed were Wurttemburg Infantry, French Guard Lancers and Guard Chasseurs, and Bavarian horse artillery gun and gun riders. The infantry were advancing bayonet forward. I suppose they will paint up OK, but I found the pose a bit sloppy and the detail insufficient for the bulk. That is, protruding weapons and detail were less pronounced than seemed appropriate for such substantial figures. The French cavalry riders were works of art. The swords and lances (separate arms for the former and lances cast separately) were small compared to the heft of the figures, but well executed. The 'Chasseur" comes in three parts-rider, sword arm, and pellisse. Unfortunately it lacks a chassepot carbine. I'm reasonably sure that the Chasseurs carried on, thought he Guides (also part of the Brigade Legere de la Garde Imperial) of paraded an marched without shoulder arms. Their steeds, alas, were unimpressive. A bit stocky, and it seemed to me small for the riders. The Bavarian gun (Krupp pattern I think) and riders in their tarleton helmets were, in my opinion, very nice little figures. Perhaps less elegant than the horse, but after all they were only artillerymen, and Bavarians at that. More Courier Reviews
