Decision Game's purchase of the SPI line of games has been a subject of much speculation and controversy Christopher R. Cummins, PhD., has finally broken his long silence on the subject with a short editorial in Issue #82 of Moves. In the editorial, Dr. Cummins explains that he purchased the SPI line because it represented the reconstruction of the old Strategy & Tactics empire. It also allows him to produce proven games with upgraded artwork, design, and in some cases scenarios; and perhaps to convert some of the games to computer versions. The market in these classics also appeared strong to Dr. Cummins, and when the opportunity to purchase the entire SPI line presented itself, he seized the opportunity. With seven games from the SPI line already released, Decision Games plans to release three updated games a year. Planned releases for 1996 include: Thirty Years Quad (White Mountain replaces Freiberg), Blue and Gray II, and Napoleons Last Battles. More Industry News
