Gardes National de la Garde,
Flanquers, and Pupilles

Gardes National de la Garde

Created 1 January 1810. Became 7th Voltigeurs 15 February 1813. Originally consisting of four battalions of four companies each, the Gardes Nationals was reduced in May 1810 to two battalions, each of six companies. Each battalion was organised along the same lines as the infantry of the Line, with one Voltigeur company, one Grenadier company, and four Fusilier companies.

Flanquers

  • Flanquers-Grenadiers created 4 September 1811. Disbanded 1814.
  • Flanquers-Chasseurs created 23 March 1813. Disbanded 1814.

    The Flanquers were also organised on the same two battalion, Six company format.

    Pupilles

  • Created 30 March 1811. Disbanded 1814.

    The Pupilles totalled nine battalions of 800 boys each, including a depot battalion.
