Grand Total: 48,049 Editor's Note: I have added a list of Varvarde and Indelta infantry regiments taken from the Pengel & Hurt book 'Swedish Army in Pomerania 1757-1763' to augment the information given above. List of Swedish Regiments From Pengel & HurtSwedish Indelta Infantry Regiments: Upplands, Skaraborgs, Sodermanlands, Kronobergs, Jonkopings, Dalarnas, Ostgota, Helsinge, Alvsborg, Vastgota-Dals, Vastmanlands, Vasterbottens, Kalmar, Narke Varmlands, Jamtlands (dismounted dragoons). All but Jamtlands were stationed in Pomerania during the SYW. Finnish Indelta Infantry Regiments: Abo Lans, Bjorneborgs, Tavastehus, Savalox Nyslotts, Nylands, Osterbottens, Elimas Company. All but Savalox Nyslotts and Elimas were stationed in Pomerania during the SYW. Royal Varvarde Infantry Regiments: Kungl Livgardet, Kungl Livregt, and Kronprinsens; all but Kronprinsens were in Pomerania. Permanent Varvarde Infantry Regunents: Lillievard (later Lieven), Hessenstein, Cronhielm, Spens, Posse (later Hamilton), and Lowenfels. [note that P&H list only 6 regiments; it is probable that two of the regiments listed as Royal Varvarde regiments account for the remaining two units mentioned by Peter Wilson]. Cavalry (Ryttare) Regts: Smalands, Ostgota, Norraskanska, Sodraskanska, Jamtland. Dragoon Regts: Nylands, Bohuslands, Karelska (and Vastgota listed as half ryttare and half dragoon). Royal Cavalry Regiments: Livregiment (ryttare and juirassier), Livregiment (dragoon) and Adelsfanor ryttare regiment. Hussar Regiments: In 1757 the first light cavalry troop, the Bla (blue) Husarenregiment was formed in Swedish Pomerania from Pomeranians, Danzigers, Lubeckers, Mecklinburgers, etc. and dressed in the Prussian style with mirliton. It started as two squadrons and enlarged to 10 squadrons in 1758. In 1761, the Gul (yellow) Husarenregiment was formed with five squadrons and later enlarged to six squadrons. This unit wore a fur hat rather than the mirliton. [This information is also from Pengel & Hurt]. More 7YW Swedish Army
