The Nelson Society:
Inaugural Event

The Northern Home Counties Group of The Nelson Society will be staging a Collector's meeting and conference on Saturday 3 August 1996 at Kingsmead Nursery School Hall, Stanstead Road, Hertford. The programme is as follows:

2.00pm Collector's Meeting. Bring, buy and display Nelson-related collector's items. Sellers will be asked to make a donation to the running costs of the event.

3.00pm Guest Speakers: David Shannon on Nelson's Men of Hertfordshire.

3.30pm Peter Goodwin, Curator and Keeper of HMS Victory on "Beat to Quarters!" Preparing the Victory for Battle.

4.15pm Open Forum.

Admission is open to all Nelson Society members and their guests. However, the Napoleonic Association has a good relationship with The Nelson Society, and so readers of this magazine should be able to attend without any difficulty. Having been to such events staged by this society in the past, I can vouch for them being interesting and very enjoyable. For further details of the event contact David Shannon, 39 Woodland Mount, Hertford, Hertfordshire, SG13 7JD. Tel. 01992 550443.
