Review by Curt Campbell
Toby Barrett has recently expanded his range of 1/600 scale ACW naval models, and for this issue I will review two of his latest. The TS59 USS Neosho Class (also Osage) (photo) is a turreted river monitor kit comprising 4 white metal parts, a brass flagstaff, a paper Union flag, and a history/painting guide. All the parts dry-fit together easily with very little trimming or sanding required. The detail is very fine with each armoured plate of the hull quite distinct great for drybrushing. The TS60 Armed Ferry Boat (Commodore Class) (shown at bottom & at right) has 13 white metal parts, a brass flagstaff, a paper Union Flag and a handy onepage history/ painting guide. The only tricky bit to this kit is the "walking beam assembly" which is comprised of 3 parts. The detail is wonderful with the planking and windows clearly evident (I'm sure there is a more correct naval term than " windows" but, hey, I'm from the prairies). Mr Barrett has provided us with another set of beautifully sculpted and cast naval models. Bravo!
