June 11 1839. LA HOZ or ALLO. A skirmish involving only cavalry for both sides. General Leon defeats the Carlist horse. Leon with one squadron each of Gde Cazadores and Coraceros + the British lancers + some line and light cavalry. The Cazadores found themselves at risk from a flank charge by Carlist horse. Leon countered with the Coraceros and British and routed the Carlists. May 1840. MORELLA III. The Cristinos under Espartero capture the Carlist fortified city of Morella after a week of assaults on the gate and walls. Morella fell to Cristino's with ease because the attackers had a strong siege train including 800 gunners, 600 sappers, eight 24 pdrs or 16 pdrs + fourteen 7" howitzers + ten mortars + two 16pdrs + four 12pdrs, two 8pdrs. Carlist power in Aragon is broken and Cristinos forces begin to mop up pockets of resistance. July 4 1840. BERJA. The final battle of the war. The Carlist forces under Cabrera are defeated and scattered by Cristinos troops under Espartero. The few surviving Carlist troops with Carbrera flee to France.
