Two Young Salaam battalions attack Captain De Trevel's advanced party at the Maghrib Gate of Dar as Salaam.

Letter to Ali Baba from Major Fitzgerald

"I simply cannot give in to your demands. If I leave with my army, Parliament will just send another, probably less-understanding commander, and a larger army. Then we will both be in trouble. The same goes for your demands of an expulsion of all European peoples from Dar as Salaam. Europe will not cooperate, especially if you take hostages and kill them.

I do not always agree with the British government. I am not an ally with the Bey either. But if you decide that we, the British, are your enemies, you will have the entire wrath of England breathing down your neck..."
