TURN RESULTS FOR 1-30-00A French squadron with French Foreign Legion troops is hovering off the coast of Dar as Salaam. Because of this the Sailors battalion and two of the guns are pulled out of the invasion force to face the French. The new government is threatening to close the canal. As a result the British Government orders the two British Artillery units and an Infantry Unit dispatched to Port Said, the strategic mouth of the Suez Canal. The British army leaves Malta and lands in Dar as Salaam (one square west of the city). Major Fitzgerald is in acting command. He sends the following letter to the Bey. Dear Bey Ali, You probably know why we are here. England has sent this military force to demonstrate to you and the rest of Dar as Salaam that we are your betters. This does not represent my thoughts on this matter. I do not wish to harm any of the people of Dar as Salaam. I am more concerned with the French. I feel they have something up their sleeve that neither you nor I will like. So I propose a deal. If you allow my forces to peacefully occupy Dar as Salaam, I promise we will not harm Dar as Salaam or any of its inhabitants. If you resist, I will be obligated to take the city by force.
