CONFLICT RESOLUTION RESULTS 2-6-00
Abdullah finds evidence that a group called 'New Salaam' exists among the army officers. Creaming off the best weaponry into their own units (2 infantry battalions), these Majors and Captains (the products of foreign military academies) see only secularism, driving out the Turks and aping' modern Europe' as the hope of Dar as Salaam. They are sworn enemies of the mullahs.
Encouraged by events in Egypt and by popular support following the British landing they are ready to take control of the army.
Four of the British civilians in Dar as Salaam were tipped off about Ali Baba's plans shortly before they were set in action. They were unable to warn the others that the natives might be in a bit of a frenzy before the four themselves fled the city. They were the only ones able to make it out of the city. All the others were captured. When they get to the military camp, they tell Major Fitzgerald the bad news…
