Bill Rutherford
20th Century Editor

by Dick Bryant

Bill Rutherford started wagaming in 1966 with the receipt of a copy of "Blitzkreig" as a gift. This started an ongoing interest in boardgames that continues unabated today. In 1974, while serving in the U.S. Army in the Washington D.C. area, Bill innocently joined a local gaming group only to discover, too late, that they played miniatures! In short order, they had him involved in several historical periods, and he'd painted and was playingarmies in ACW, ECW,Ancients, and WWII Microarmor.

Although he maintains an active interest in boardgaming, and several historical periods in miniatures gaming, Bill has found himself over the years spending an increasing proportion of his time pushing small metal] tanks around. In 1979 he became active with the local group (now known as the South Alexandria Gamers' Association, AKA SAGA) in organizing and running numerous WWII and Modern Microarmor tournamentsand demonstrations, both at several of the East Coast Origins shows, and atthe various HMGS shows.

Bill is currently one of the scenario coordinators for SAGA, which meets and plays miniatures games on a weekly basis. The club games in numerous periods, but places a distinct emphasis on 20th Century gaming, ranging from WWII and Modern Microarmor, to WWI aeriall miniatures, and most recently, to WWII and modern skirmish gaming.
