Britannia Miniatures has recently released some very nice "large" 25mm Colonial wargames figures for the Sudan campaigns. These figures are well- sculpted and detailed and scale in perfectly with the other "tall" 25mm Colonial miniatures such as Essex and Hinchliffe. They are not quite as "robust" as the Essex 25's but have just as much character and personality. Initial releases include British Came[ Corps (mounted and dismounted, several poses of the latter), Naval Brigade Gunners with a Gardner Gun and an ammunition pack mule; and an assortment of Dervishes. I must point out, however, that all of these figures described as "Dervishes" are actually Beja "Fuzzy-Wuzzies". There is one Bega Camel rider and several foot figures in various poses. Future releases include more Mahdists, Highlanders, British Regulars, Royal Artillery, Naval Brigade Infantry, a Screw Gun, British Cavalry, and Indian Army troops and Afghans for the North West Frontier. If you are presently using the "larger" 25mm Colonial figures, I highly recommend Britannia Miniatures. Their U.S. Importer is ASP Import Miniatures, 1021 107th St. W., Bloomington, MN 55431.
