Greenfield Hobby Distributors has purchased the rights to Yaquinto's popular Colonial rule set, THE SWORD AND THE FLAME and has just published a totally revised set. The revisions include most of the early updates that have appeared in THE HELIOGRAPH and THE COURIER with added clarifications by the original author, Larry Brom. The clarifications make the rules easier to follow, understand and play with many of the questions on morale and target susceptibility that always come up finally answered. This revision does not, however, incorporate the Boxer Rebellion, Indian Mutiny, Phased Cavalry Move, and River Gunboat rules that have appeared in the two magazines mentioned above and which we were all waiting for. Greenfield Hobby explains that they recognize that these rules are "live" with many changes, optional rules and improvements yet to come as more of us game with the system. They promise to keep the rules current within the limits of economic reality and will, perhaps, be issuing updates. I would suggest to them that they might offer a subscription for updates at reasonable cost. In any case this revision is recommended to all the new members in your group who you want to introduce to the rules and to those of you who want to consolidate all that marked up paper that you have accumulated in your original rule set. The rules sell for $8.50 at better hobby shops everywhere.
