Virtual Armchair General

Dynamite Deck and B’Hoys Town

by Dick Bryant

Dynamite Deck

Anyone who has played an Old West skirmish game, no matter what the rules, has attempted at one time or another to have a character use dynamite in the game. With whatever rules, my experience was that the timing and frequency of explosion of the dynamite left something to be desired. The Virtual Armchair General has come up with a deck of cards that solves all that! When dynamite is used, draw the top card of the 16 card deck and read whether the dynamite, explodes, sputters, is a dud or simply fizzles out. If it hasn’t exploded yet continue to draw a card each turn until it explodes or fizzles out. You can re-light it -– but since you do not add cards back to the deck, it might blow up in your face! The deck can be modified for various effects. A great idea. Available from: www.thevirtualarmchairgeneral.com.

B’Hoys Town

These are full-colored card stock buildings for assembly. Built on heavy cardstock they go together quite easily with white glue. I find that they are more sturdy if you mount each wall and the base to foam -core board however. The sets consists or 18 blocks representing the buildings of New York and Europe in the early 1800s inspired by the movie, gangs of New York. There are full buildings, fronts, streest and sidewalks available. All scaled for 28mm. Also available is Buffalo Chip III, recently remodelled card stock buildings representing a Kansas Cow Town. The cost of each block is between $12 and $15. streets and sidewalks costin $3 per packet. Available from The Virtual Armchair General at: www.thevirtualarmchairgeneral.com/
