Two Tin Soldiers

15mm WWII Finnish Infantry and Weapons

by Bill Rutherford

Two Tin Soldiers has just released the first two packs of a new Legions East range of 15mm troops dealing with lesser-known troops fighting on the Eastern Front during WWII. The first releases are FN-1 Finnish Infantry and FN-4 Finnish Heavy Weapons and will eventually include seven packs of Finns including infantry, weapons, ski troops, and bicycle troops. These figures are true 15s, measuring 15M Barrett. Animation is good – conservative but not static – and in a variety of poses (advancing, firing, etc.).

Detail is present but not over-stated. Troops come in a mix of Finnish helmets and soft caps and wear light field gear. Proportions are good; some of the troops are just a bit broad across the hips but it disappears when they’re painted. Weapons variety is good, too, with non-descript rifles, PPsH, and one fellow with a Panzerfaust. I only managed to wind up with a prone LMG gunner from the weapons pack – I don’t recognize the clip-fed LMG – but from the bits and pieces I received, there appears to be a wheeled HMG (presumably with crew) and at least one other bipod-supported heavy weapon as well. Check the accompanying pictures – these should at least be illustrated. Upcoming releases in the Legions East range will include seven packs each of early war Russians and Romanians, to be followed by a variety of Ostfront denizens… The figures generally come packed 10 to a bag for $4.50 and should be available from your local game shop. If you can’t get them there, contact Two Tin Soldiers at # 182 1971 Western Ave., Albany, NY 12203, by phone at (518) 271-6585, or go to their website at www.twotinsoldiers.com for a full catalog and price list. If you game WWII in 15mm, you should take a look at these… Recommended!
