Viking Forge has released two US Battleships as part of its Minifleet 1/2400 scale warship range. USS South Carolina is a battleship that marked the transition to dreadnoughts of the U.S. Navy. It was too slow to keep up with the later dreadnoughts and spent WWI in the U.S.. USS Florida is a true dreadnought and spent time with the Grand Fleet. The Florida's sister ship Utah was sunk at Pearl Harbor. The models are good looking with a minimum of flash. Florida had a mold seam line that needed smoothing out. The only parts to assemble are the turrets. The cage masts found on these ships are cast as a single piece which require careful painting to get the proper open lattice work look needed. The ships are accurate 1/2400 scale and well worth a look for those "What-If" scenarios. Both Ships come one to a pack for $4.50. VT also released several WWII transports that are handy to have for many a scenario. The transport and IST are nicely done and true-to-scale. Also released was the USS Arizona.
