BRUSHSTROKES: How to Paint Miniature Figures Gary Leitzell has been hosting very well attended painting seminars at most of the major shows. Many of you may remember him at Historicon near the Pizza stand. Well, Gary has distilled his expertise into a 40+ page booklet complete with color pictures showing the results of the painting techniques he uses. The work is well written with easily understood explanations of the various techniques but I feel that the color photos would have better served as a step-by-step aid in understanding the process of the described techniques. It is somewhat pricey at $12.95 (the color pictures!) but an excellent investment for any one - beginner to master who wants to improve his painting. Available from G. L. Books, 227 Hawthorne Dr., Oakdale PA 15071 - DICK BRYANT FIRE AND FURY SCENARIO BOOK Six scenarios covering the Great Western Battles of the American Civil War are presented in this slick publication. As well presented as the Fire & Fury rules were, each scenario is complete with great maps, orders of battle, mission, order of entry, etc. The scenarios will work with any Brigade level set of ACW rules such as On To Richmond as well. Available from better hobby shops everywhere. Cost is about $20 - DICK BRYANT 15MM AND 25MM COLOR FLAGS: Pelar Graphics uses a color laser printer to generate some very impressive flags. Their first offerings are for the ACW and the goal is to provide all the state colors as well as the national colors. I particularly liked the Corps, Division, & Brigade flags for the Army of the Potomac. The sets have 4 flags each and sell for $1.50 for the 15mm and $2.00 for the 25mm with a 10% discount for more than 10 sets. Available from Pelar Graphics 105 Friedline Lane, Latrobe PA 15650 - DICK BRYANT THOROUGHBRED FIGURES ERRATA: In the last issue we reviewed Thoroughbred Figures but mis-stated his Zip code. It should have been 23324. AUNTIE BELLUM'S WARGAMING ACCESSORIES: Auntie Bellum's Wargaming Accessories first offering consists of playing aids and mounting bases for WRG 7th Edition ancients rules. They produce a range of hard plastic bases for figures in both 15mm and 25mm. Prices range from 8-15 cents per base in 15mm and 13-22 cents per base in 25mm. Discounts are available for large quantities. Additionally, they produce different colored plastic squares that denote troop state in 7th, (D)isordered, (R)out, (S)haken, (I)mpetuous, (T)ired, and (E)xhausted. These have the first letter of the state printed in contrasting colors and are particularly useful in marking units on the table thus cutting down on paperwork.
