Gary Hirel has come out with a really neat line of figures in 15mm that cover initially, WW I Ottoman Turkey, Serbia, and Montenegro. Designed and sculpted by Joel Haas, the range at present covers infantry, command, MGs, and casualties, packaged in various quantities at around $.25 per figure. These troops are nicely detailed - they measure just about 15mm from boot bottom to eye and are of medium heft. They will fit well with Minifigs' WW I range, specifically filling in several gaps in that range. The Serbian heavy MG team is particularly nice, having a 'hunkered down' look to it when set up. The Ottoman staff officer with map looks right with German style uniform, Fez, and sword. Not only does Gary produce the only Ottomans on the market in this scale, you can get'em wearing Pasha helmets! Plans areto expand this line of troops to the early 20th Century colonial campaigns (How 'bout a Beduin MG team?) and to generally cover the wars and theaters the other manufacturers miss. Based on his initial offerings, I have high hopes for Horizon Bleu Miniatures! These figures are available from Gary at 1312 Hawthorne Lane, Glenview, IL 60025. Write to him! More Courier Reviews
