by Lance Runolfsson, 249 East Pine, Central Point OR, 97502. The figures are a stocky 25mm targeted to the approximate size of ESSEX 25mm figures. My impression is that they would be at least 30mm to the eyebrows if their vertical growth had not been stunted somehow. The series is limited as yet. Only one infantryman, seemingly a French Imperial Guard Grenadier circa 1859, was received. He is recognizable as such but a bit crude - I can't tell where his bearskin ends and his hair begins. The cavalry include what seems to be a Napoleonic Cossack, a Napoleonic (or 1859 full dress) Austrian Uhlan, a French Dragoon, a so-called Savoy Dragoon, a Parma Guide, and a Danish Dragoon. Cavalry are available with a choice of arms (saber, lance, carbine, pistol, or horn) for $.60 with a variety of horses lacking most harness, for $.65 each. Infantry is $.50. The range at present is rather eclectic, and I am inclined to think that, since the house of Savoy ruled PiedmontSardinia, that the "dragoon" should be a heavy cavalryman with lance. However, the multiple horse positions are to be commended, and if the design is a bit crude (buttons seem to be inverted) the price compensates somewhat. I can recommend them for missing items (I don't know where you can get the rest of the Danish Army of 1864) or to add a couple of low cost 25mm units to your armies. Don't expect these figures to shine in close up photos. More Courier Reviews
