BACKGROUND

The eldest daughter of a farming gamily, Vesper always had a strong will and a restless streak which caused her parents no little concern. She always loved to go to new places and see new things. Many times, when she was a child, her brother Foster would be sent to find her somewhere wandering far afield. As she grew older she grew even more rebellious. She didn't care for farm chores, and she didn't like tending to her younger sister, Sundi.

All the children in her family were dreamers: her brother shares her love of adventure, yet he is obedient and works at home. Her little sister loves dressing up and playing "Princess."

Vesper met some other people in their farming community who had ideas such as her own. She would go to town as often as possible to visit them. She began to stay overnight, and soon was neglecting to tell her parents. When her friends planned a visit to the city, she was eager to go with them. She was fascinated by the city, which she had seen before only once or twice, and that with her parents. Now she was free to roam about with her adventurous friends.

There they met other young folks, and soon the idea began to grow among them to become adventurers. They practiced their trades. By this time, Vesper had become a fairly accomplished thief, under the tutelage of a one whose name was Alavar.

She joined his group, and they practiced within the city and for a short distance into the surrounding countryside, and finally, upon hearing a rumor of a treasure in the wild country to the north, set off to find it.

Vesper, of course, neglected to tell her family that she was going.
