VI Corps at Chancellorsville

Order of Battle: Confederate

by Steve Wilson

CONFEDERATE BRIEF & OOB

The battle of Chancellorsville is over and Lee has defeated yet another Union general.

The Union VI Corps is advancing from the Fredricksburg area to save Hooker from destruction at Lee's hands. A rearguard has been gathered together to block this fresh Union attack and to allow time for Lee to gather troops together from the forces at Chancellorsville and so mount a crushing counter attack.

Anderson is attempting to concentrate at Salem Church whilst McLaw is force marching to his support. Your men are some of Lee's toughest veterans with a proven record of success. Unfortunately they have already fought one recent battle and are now having to force march. However, hold the enemy today and Lee must surely destroy them tomorrow.

The Union VI Corps is the largest formation in their army. It has many veteran units and is well equipped with artillery. Sedgewick and his divisional leaders are surprisingly able.

Barksdales Brigade 8/6/4 & 1 battery attached.

Note this is almost certainly overstrength but has been upgraded to allow for the excellent defensive terrain of the Heights.

This brigade only fights at the Heights (or see umpire's notes).

If you wish to put this battle on, note that not all troops are needed for every action -- if figures are in short supply simply relabel and reuse!
