1st Regiment Raised in 1807 as the Regiment de Chevau-Legers Polonais de la Garde, the regiment was organised into four squadrons of two companies each. Company strength was 120 all ranks. Following the Battle of Wagram in 1809 the regiment became the Chevau-Legers Lanciers Polonais de la Garde. With the formation of a second regiment of lancers in 1811, the Polish lancers became the 1er Regiment de ChevauLegers Lanciers de la Garde. A fifth squadron was added in 1812. Trooper, Polish Light Horse on campaign, 1808 A single squadron accompanied Napoleon to Elba, which upon the Emperor's return formed the backbone of the reformed combined regiment of Chevau-Legers Lanciers. This regiment was composed of eight companies in four squadrons. Each company had, one Lieutenant en premier, two Marechaux des logis, four brigadiers, one trompette, one Marechal-ferrant, and forty-one lancers. 2nd Regiment Formed from the Dutch Regiment de Hussards de la Gard A Cheval du Roi in 1810 as the 2eme Regiment de Chevau-Legers Lanciers de la Garde. The regiment was organised into four squadrons of two companies each. In 1812 a fifth squadron was raised, bringing the total for the regiment to 1,406 troopers, including fifty-eight velites. On 10 January 1813 the regiment was increased to eight squadrons each of two companies, with 125 per company. The regiment served under Louis XVIII and in 1815 the Dutch lancers joined the remains of the Polish lancers to form the Regiment de Chevau-Legers Lanciers de la Garde. 3rd Regiment A second Polish lancer regiment, the 3eme Regiment a Chevau-Legers Lanciers, was formed on 5 July 1812.
