Foot Artillery Battery ‘Van der Linden’

The ‘northern’ 1st company of the 1st Line artillery battalion was commanded by Captain W. van der Linden. This company was in the main reserve park which was attached to the 2nd Netherlands Army Corps (Prince Frederick of Orange), as this corps was assigned to besiege French fortresses when necessary during its advance into France, together with the Foot artillery company ‘Rommel’, and a train detachment of 169 men and 387 horses, com-manded by 1st Lieutenant W. Savelkoul. The company is listed with a strength of 91 men present on 18 July 1815. In any case, the company was without guns and saw no combat during the Waterloo campaign.
