The Naval Academy - Lectures and Seminars at the Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth

The Naval Academy is a new initiative by the Royal Naval Museum to encourage the study of naval history. A range of lectures and seminars will be offered, designed to appeal to all those with an interest in the history and development of the Senior Service, and not just scholars and experts. A forthcoming event is:

Hell Afloat? Challenging the Myths about the Sailing Navy

Many myths have grown up around the Sailing Navy of Nelson’s day, especially concerning the quality of life afloat. This seminar will challenge some of those myths and offer a more balanced picture of this key period in our maritime history. It will include a guided visit to the Museum’s new exhibition, The Sailing Navy.

The seminar takes place on 17th March at the museum. For details contact Trevor Carpenter on 023 9272 7583, or Email trevor.carpenter@royalnavalmuseum.org
