On 3rd October 1994, Peter Hofschröer was awarded the Bismark Memorial Medal in silver in recognition for his work as a historian and for his furthering of knowledge of the history of Prussia. The ceremony took place in the family home in Friedrichsruh, and the medal was presented personally by Ferdinand, the current Prince of Bismark.
