The Sacred Company During the Great War

Once Greece entered the War but prior to the USA entry into the war, the Greeks in America were recruited to fight for their homeland. A volunteer brigade known as the ‘Sacred Company’ was raised in America and was transported to Greece. The unit originally wore US Army style uniforms but changed to Greek style uniforms once in Greece. The unit flew both USA and Greek flags as needed.
