Fred Saw Bismarck!

Captain ALFRED McLAREN (5835-1999) is a busy guy, He is a refired Captain from the US Navy and is the President Emeritus of the world-renowned Explorer's Club - and now he is one of the first people ever to actually see BISMARCK with their own eyes.

He was one of a group of 13 divers, using the Russian deep diving MIR submersibles, over June 8 through 14 of this year, to make the very first ever manned dive to the German battleship BISMARCK at a depth of 4775 meters (about 15,000 feet). They were part of an IMAX and National Geographic group and in this first group of 13 were Heinrich Kuhnt & Heinz Steeg, survivors of BISMARCK when she went down in a sea battle with forces far superior to her in raw numbers.

FRED writes:

The underwater cinematic footage obtained is probably the best ever of any marine archaeological since BISMARCK was in a remarkable state of preservation. Also, the surprisingly few holes In her hull as a result of BrItish armor piercing projectiles would lend credence to German crew claims of having scuttled BISMARCK."

Fred is Coming to Germany

Captain McLAREN has taken slides and a short video of this dive, and since he is coming with us on our 'Patrol in North Germany', he will show these for us during that tour. Will YOU be with us to see this fantastic slide and video show? Time is short so you have to phone, e-mail or FAX your reservation immediately and FRED, many thanks and we're looking forward to your show.
