Collins Class Problems?

Bulletin Board

Also from YOYA KAWAMURA we read:

"The COLLINS Class submarines of the Royal Australian Navy has a defective combat system. It is going to be renewed. The Navy invited bidding from all parties interested in this job. STN Atlas of Germany and Raytheon of the USA have been vying for the contract. The Aussie Government has recently withdrawn from the bidding., and decided to give the job to the American firm. The Germans feel very badly about this decision. The German firm will go to court to demand compensation worth one hundred million Australian dollars. Last year an assessment team of the Australian Navy submitted a report that said that the German system was superior in cost as well as in concept. The Aussie Government, it looks like, has been under pressure from the U. S. Government in this matter."

Many thanks for these two reports, VOYA. Our Far East Representative is hard at work, digging up important stories for us relating to submarines etc. around the world.
