As they unceremoniously wander the most unspeakable ball of human misery and depravity in the known universe (Hol), the characters are unaware that they are about to be thrown into a deadly plot. Unlike all the other deadly plots they've been thrown into, however, this one involves an alliance between a Dickens Boy and a terrifying extra-dimensional entity known as "The Great Kuthoolu".
You see, Dickens Boy Joey "Abd al-Azrad" Lovecraft, recently discovered an ancient and forgotten tome lying amidst the vast library maintained by his colleagues. Studying the text he discovered that it was none other than the dreaded limited 5th edition, 3rd printing Penguin classics softcover version of the Necoronomonoconocon.
Carefully gathering up his unpronounceable treasure of dark lore, Joey Lovecraft headed out into the wastes (of which there are a lot on Hol) to secretly study the art of Dark Magick. This he did for several years, until at last he was ready to summon up the scourge of the universe, Kuthoolu from its grave beneath the surface of Hol.
Travel Time
However, doing this wasn't going to be a piece of scrapple. Joey needed to travel to the lair of Great Kuthoolu if he were to complete his diabolical pilgrimage, and that meant getting to the lost Isle of R'lyee. R'lyee lies amidst the shifting currents of the Septic Sea - a veritable ocean of effluent plied only by gigantic ten-masted septic tankers known as the hell-hulks. Manned by such dastardly brigands as Sodomy Troopers, Cannibalistic Accountants, and renegade Nortons, these exceptionally unpleasant pirate vessels prey upon anyone moronic enough to try and cross their territory of liquid filth. Like the characters.
The adventure begins at Port Krapper, the single settlement built along the shores of the Septic Sea.
